My little sister, Aly, took this picture of me a few years ago. It was her favorite. And while I look pretty different now, this picture reminds me of her passion for capturing moments, which became my passion after she passed away in February of 2011.
Since then, I've had a growing desire to vividly capture fleeting moments of beauty, now knowing all too well how fleeting life truly is. I feel connected to my sister when I compose a shot, edit with texture, play with lighting. I understand her a little bit better with every image I capture and bring to life. I'm so thankful to be able to carry on her legacy in this way.
It's amazing how by documenting the lives of others, you document your own as well. As I look through the images in these galleries, I remember every single moment. I am humbled each time I am invited to tell someone's story with my camera. It's been an incredible journey so far, and I can't wait to see where it takes me next.
